How we "do church" | Where and when do we meet?

Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

At Sovereign Grace Baptist Church we believe that mankind was created for the glory of God. It follows therefore that the mission of the church must also be the glorification of God in this world. The scripture ( Phil 2:9-11) tells us that one day every knee will bow and every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. Consequently our goal is, by our lives, both personally and corporately, to demonstrate the power of God to change lives through faith in His Son and to spread the good news (the gospel) to a world of lost sinners who desperately need the Savior.

We welcome people of all races and nationalities. The Bible reveals that in heaven there will be a multitude that no man can count from every nation, and all tribes and peoples and languages worshiping together. ( Rev 7:9-10) We believe that we might as well get started now.

We are not a member of any denomination nor are we associated with any ecclesiastical organization. We are not opposed to denominations or church associations. We do feel that quite often such organizations become self-defeating as the need to "feed the machine" begins to become, pragmatically, a major, if not the main, focus. Therefore, we prefer to remain and function as a local, independent congregation. As such, we feel that we have greater freedom to become more personally involved in the support of specific gospel preaching missionaries and evangelistic efforts (local, national, and international) without resources being consumed in support of a hierarchical organization.

So if you are looking for a place to worship where the Scriptures are taught, where God is glorified through His Son, and where the love of the brethren is practiced – come worship and fellowship with us.

Our Practice

We believe in exegetical and expository preaching and teaching of the whole counsel of God. That is to say that we generally take a book of the Bible and teach/preach through that book examining the scriptures to discover what God meant by what God said.

We have a Bible study on Sunday morning at 10:00 AM. We have had two classes; one for small children and one for adults. (We currently do not have any small children.) We feel that older children can benefit from the teaching and discussions with the adults. Our current study in the adult class is Experiencing God by Henry Blackaby.

We have a somewhat traditional worship service at 11:00 AM on Sunday morning with congregational singing and preaching. At the beginning of our Sunday morning worship service we give attention to the public reading of scripture ( 1 Tim 4:13) and partake of the Lord's Supper. Following the morning worship service, we eat lunch and fellowship together. ( Acts 2:42)

On Sunday night we have a worship and Bible study time beginning at 6:00 PM, with congregational singing and an interactive discussion of the morning message.

On Wednesday night we meet at 7:00 PM for prayer.
